Planning GSM-R sites along Frankfurt-Göttingen rail section 3600, Germany

Deutsche Bahn AG is currently using various analog wireless systems for its operational applications, and these no longer meet the growing needs of a modern rail network, so DB Telematik GmbH was commissioned with setting up a uniform digital wireless system on the basis of the GSM standard. The basic elements of the GSM infrastructure are base transceiver stations, installed to guarantee coverage of the overwhelmingly linear wireless transmission paths along the rail sections concerned. Fichtner Bauconsulting was awarded a contract for planning six new mast locations and replanning two existing ones.
